How it works...

So how does it all work?
We talk via phone or in person about what you want to capture during your session.

  • I ask a lot of questions to make sure I know what you need/want
  • We decide on time/date/location of your portrait session
  • We decide on time/date/location of your ordering session

  • I send you your contract and model release which you return with your retainer fee.

You return the signed contract and model release with your retainer fee.

Once the two signed documents and retainer fee are back to Stacee Taft Photography, your session is officially on the calendar. No other session will be booked on your day.

We talk/email as needed to help you feel prepared and relaxed about your session. We work through details like wardrobe, style, accessories and props.

We meet at the arranged time/date/location for your portrait session.

We have a ton of fun capturing creative and unique images that represent YOU!! We laugh, we pose, we imagine, we create… basically we have a blast!

Once back at the studio, I work hard to fine tune your images and get them ready to present to you at your premier session.

We meet at the arranged time/date/location for your premier session.

We have fun… because your premier session is a time when you get to sit back and relax and enjoy the results from your portrait session. I present your images to you. I work with you to help you decide what would work best for you and place your order. (All those who need to be involved in the decision making process must be present.) You pay for your order.

I get right to work prepping your order for my professional lab to do their magic.

I let you know when your order is ready and we figure out the best way/time to connect to get your images and products to you.

You are thrilled with your images and enjoy hanging them, sharing them and looking at them for years to come.

You can’t wait to book your next session with Stacee Taft Photography… I can’t wait either because by this time I consider you a friend. And I love spending time with my friends!

    Portrait Sessions

Do you have a hair and make-up artist available?
We do! We are so excited to have this option available to our clients for only $100 per client. We have several ladies who work miracles with hair and make-up. They cater to brides and models, so they’re used to making sure that their clients look perfect for their close-up. Being made to look perfect before you get your portraits taken… who wouldn’t want that?

What should I expect? What is a session like?
Expect to have fun! Photography doesn’t have to be painful or even dull. It’s capturing life… your life! One of the things I love best is when a client, who wasn’t thrilled to have their portraits done at the beginning, is eager to admit that they had a great time!

Since we will have covered all the vital information in the pre-session consultation, we will know when and where we’re meeting, what style of portraits we’re working to create and what specific things we’re hoping to capture. Having all that arranged ahead of time means we can relax and have fun while capturing your memories. Your ideas and thoughts are always welcome. I love the creativity of my clients!

If you’d like to be pampered and treated like a celebrity we have a hair and make-up team available upon request.

    Is there a pre-session consultation?
It is essential for us to learn your desires, tastes and expectations for the session. This discussion can be held over the phone or in-person. The output of this pre-session consultation helps shape the nature of your portrait session (more than just the date, time and location). If you are interested in having our hair and make-up expert work her magic for you, we need to know so we can get her scheduled. You’re your session fee, contract and model release are received your session is officially booked. This locks in your session date, time and pricing through your in-person order premier.

How do I schedule a portrait session?
Use the contact page to send us your name, phone number, type of session you’re interested in, and roughly when you’re hoping to have the session. We will get back to you within one business day.
    BACK TO LIST

What should I bring to a portrait session?
First of all, bring chapstick, lipstick and/or lip gloss – dry lips are not flattering on anyone! And yes, guys and little ones, that goes for you, too!

Children: If your child has a special little toy or stuffed friend they’d love, please feel free to bring it! Snacks are also a good thing (like Cheerios, they aren’t too big and don’t make a mess of an outfit if dropped). Fully stocked diaper bag is also a wise idea. And it’s always fun if you have a child-sized wooden chair to use for posing.

How long does a typical portrait session last?
    Sessions typically last 1½ - 2 hours.
    BACK TO LIST

    What’s a model release?
A model release, simply stated, says that you legally allow me to use your images to market Stacee Taft Photography. I am very careful about how and where my images are used.

    Ordering / Ordering Sessions

When will my order be ready?
Typically, within three weeks from when we receive your payment. (Unless you order in December, then you’ll receive your order in January).

How early should orders be placed to ensure my Christmas cards and gift portraits are ready in time? Professional photo labs and print shops are overloaded during the month of December… evidently our clients aren’t the only ones wanting prints for Christmas gifts and Christmas cards to send out! Any orders received in December won’t be sent out until January. Rarely are we able to make our labs perform scheduling miracles. Please take this into consideration and schedule your session before November.

Please note that images created with Stacee Taft Photography can be use by DesignBin Studios in your graphic design project. There is no charge for the use of your image file(s).

How does an ordering session work?
Your ordering session will be scheduled during the initial consultation – typically seven to ten days after your portrait session date. It is a time when you get to sit back and relax and enjoy the results from all you did to prepare for your portrait session. We present your images to you. We work with you to help you decide what would work best for you and place your order. All those who need to be involved in the decision making process must be present. Ordering premier is when you place your order, so please come prepared to do so. This is also when you have the opportunity to order from one of our collections. And as much as we love little ones… this is not the place for them. If your children are toddling around, it’s best to get a sitter for them so you can focus on making sure you get what you need and want. Nursing newborns and older children (i.e., high school seniors) are welcome. If you have any questions, please ask. Any orders placed after the order session will be done at current à la carte pricing.

When will my ordering session be?
We will schedule your ordering session during your consultation. It is typically seven to ten days after the portrait session.
    BACK TO LIST

How long does a typical ordering session last?
Typically they last around two hours. However, if you come knowing which products you want and how many prints you need of each size to take care of all the aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc… we might be able to breeze through it even faster.
    BACK TO LIST

What should I bring to the ordering session?
It helps considerably if you bring a list of who/what you need photos for and sizes for each – that way we can just fill in the file numbers as we look at our proofs. Also handy to bring is the measurements for places want to hang wall art, either a grouping or a single large wall portrait. If you would like, please feel free to bring in snapshots of those areas as well so I can virtually show you the best options for you to consider.
    BACK TO LIST

    Do you offer online proofing?
After your ordering session, you have the option to have an online gallery to share with family and friends so they may order their own prints. Any orders placed after the order session will be done at current à la carte pricing.
    BACK TO LIST

What if I realize I need more prints after the ordering session?
No problem. We carefully archive and back up session images. But being that this is not a perfect world, we cannot 100% guarantee that your files will be available for a lifetime. But lifetime archival is our goal. If you know the file numbers… great! Just let us know the file numbers and what size and style you want. However, if you can’t remember which photo was what file number… that’s okay, too. All you need to do is contact us and we can either do another in-person ordering session or we can put up a web-resolution gallery to refresh your memory. Then just let us know your order and pay. It’s just that simple. As always, if you need help with any of the ordering process we’re more than happy to assist in any way we can! Future orders will be at current à la carte pricing.
